Title: Visiting Assistant Professor of Viola
Office: 332 Memorial Hall
Kimberly Trout, DMA, has over a decade of orchestral playing experience with professional orchestras such as the Honolulu Symphony, Maui Symphony, ProMusica Chamber Orchestra and the Dayton Philharmonic. She has served as an adjunct professor at Sinclair Community College and for CCM, and also served as a sabbatical replacement at the University of Dayton.
As a member of ProMusica, she has been heard on several recordings on the Summit Label, and performed on multiple recordings with the Dayton Philharmonic that were made possible by the Mirium Rosenthal Memorial Trust Fund.
She competed in basketball at the collegiate level while she completed her Bachelor of Science in Music Education at Roberts Wesleyan College. Trout earned her Master’s Degree as a Civic Orchestra Fellowship recipient at Northwestern University where she studied with Li Kuo Chang and Roland Vamos. Her DMA is from CCM, where her passion for teaching and pedagogy lead to a cognate in Music Education.
Trout is an advocate for new music, and premiered Suite Generis by Dr. Phillip Magnuson on a Guest Artist Recital at the University of Dayton. An avid fitness participant, her love of exploring the relationships between pedagogy, music performance and sports science facilitates collaboration between different disciplines.
Trout performs on a 1939 Gaetano Gadda viola. You can learn more about her by visiting her website at http://www.kimberlyanneviola.com.
