What is Trumpet?

This program prepares the student, academically and musically, to achieve a performance degree specializing in the technique and performance of the trumpet.

In addition to talent, the successful student will benefit from such attributes as academic competency, good training and discipline, dedication and perseverance.

Career Possibilities

Brass graduates from the UC College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) may find employment in orchestras and other ensembles, or continue graduate study here or at other major schools throughout the country. Continued in-depth study and coaching with faculty can lead to the beginning of a professional career. Advanced degrees can also lead to faculty teaching positions at the college level. Paralleling and supporting CCM’s excellent performance program, the Music Education Division has a national reputation in the area of teacher preparation with 100 percent placement each year.

Curriculum

UC Advantages and Special Opportunities

In addition to outstanding artist-faculty and degree programs, CCM offers offers the greatest number of performances annually in the state of Ohio and the advantage of being located in a city long known for its intense interest in the performing arts. Major musical events are held frequently. The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra performs in beautiful and historic Music Hall as well as in its summer home, Riverbend Music Center. The Cincinnati May Festival is the oldest continuous choral festival of its kind in the nation, and the Cincinnati Opera brings major artists to the city. The Cincinnati Art Museum, Taft Museum, Museum of Natural History, Contemporary Arts Center, Playhouse in the Park, and Cincinnati/New Orleans Ballet Company offer outstanding cultural opportunities.

Graduation Requirements

Several months before graduation, each candidate for a degree must file a formal application for degree with the college office. If a student fails to properly complete this application process, the university will not be responsible for the student's graduation. A minimum of one year in residence as a full-time student is required of all students wishing to apply for any degree awarded by CCM.

Accreditation

The University of Cincinnati and all regional campuses are accredited by the Higher Learning Commission.

 

CCM's founding schools (the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and the College of Music of Cincinnati) were both charter members of the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM). The requirements for entrance and graduation in all music programs are in accordance with the published regulations of NASM.
