Alumnus Michael Schwitter Makes His Broadway Debut in the Hit Revival of Stephen Schwartz's 'Pippin'

CCM alumnus Michael Schwitter.

Recent Musical Theatre graduate Michael Schwitter (BFA, 2012) made his Broadway debut earlier this month in the hit revival of Stephen Schwart's Pippin at the Music Box Theatre.

Schwitter plays Pippin's vainglorious brother Lewis and will also understudy the title role. He replaces fellow CCM Musical Theatre graduate Erik Altemus (BFA, 2009), who originated the role in the revival and has been with the show since its pre-Broadway run at the American Repertory Theatre in Cambridge, MA.

This new production of Pippin is the winner of four 2013 Tony Awards, including Best Musical Revival. Learn more about the production by visiting www.pippinthemusical.com.

Schwitter was previously seen in the national tour of The Book of Mormon. Cincinnati audiences may also remember him from Ensemble Theatre of Cincinnati's acclaimed production of the Pulitzer Prize-winning musical next to normal.

Below, watch Schwitter (accompanied by Joshua Stephen Kartes on piano) perform "Let It Go" from the hit animated film Frozen during April 17th's Broadway Sessions at the Laurie Beechman Theatre.
