Christy Altomare Sings 'Journey to the Past' With CCM Philharmonia

Before alumna Christy Altomare (BFA Musical Theatre, 2008) opened Broadway's latest hit musical Anastasia, she returned to her alma mater to perform "Journey to the Past" with the CCM Philharmonia.

Cast as Anya in the Tony Award-nominated musical, Altomare joined a cast and creative team full of CCM alumni. The show features music by acclaimed composer Stephen Flaherty (BM Composition, 1982) and his long-time writing partner Lynn Ahrens. CCM Musical Theatre alumni Kathryn Boswell (BFA, 2013) and Kyle Brown (BFA, 2008) perform on stage in Anastasia's ensemble.

Anastasia’s promotional team filmed Altomare’s performance with the CCM Philharmonia, which was used to promote the show’s Broadway run. The video, which has been shared by Playbill.com, Entertainment Weekly and Broadway World, has more than 510,000 views.

Inspired by the beloved film of the same name, the musical features a book by playwright Terrence McNally with Tony Award-winning director Dark Tresnjak leading the production. The company includes Derek Klena as Dmitry, Ramin Karimloo as Gleb, Mary Beth Peil as Dowager Empress Maria Feodorovna, John Bolton as Vlad Popov and Caroline O’Connor as Countess Lily Malevsky-Malevitch.

Anastasia has been nominated for one Chita Rivera Award, two Tony Awards, two Drama League Awards, 9 Drama Desk Awards and 13 Outer Critics Circle Awards.

The show is running at Broadway's Broadhurst Theare. More information on Anastasia is available online at www.anastasiabroadway.com.
