Accent12 is a chamber music and new music festival for string players, pianists and composers.
This one-week intensive program opens with a faculty concert, and showcases its participants in concerts during the week. Daily masterclasses provide further performance opportunities. We welcome pre-formed ensembles.
Accent12 is open to graduate and undergraduate students with a solid background in either stringed instruments, piano, or composition.
Accent12 can be taken for one or two graduate or undergraduate credits.
At Accent12
- Performers
* Play chamber music masterworks with our internationally acclaimed faculty quartet-in-residence Momenta Quartet, and new ensemble pieces by young composers. *Receive daily performance opportunities and one private lesson. * Have access to a special curriculum for pre-formed ensembles.
- Composers
* Engage in daily discussions on new music with our guest composer Claude Baker in a daily seminar, and hear performances of his and their pieces. Pieces need to be scored for for any combination of violin, viola, cello or piano, ranging in ensemble size from solo to 5 players.
* Receive one private lesson with Professor Baker.
