BEETHOVEN, KURTÁG AND SCHUMANN

Praised by the New York Times for its “gift for filling the pristine structures of Classicism with fire,” CCM’s string quartet-in-residence opens its 2017-18 four-part concert series with the following works:

REPERTOIRE
BEETHOVEN: String Quartet No. 2 in G Major, Op. 18, No. 2
G. KURTÁG: 12 Microludes for String Quartet, Op. 13
R. SCHUMANN: String Quartet No. 3 in A Major, Op. 41, No. 3

The Ariel Quartet’s season-opening concert is dedicated to CCM Professor Emeritus Walter Levin. A founding member and first violinist of the LaSalle Quartet, Levin played an indelible role in CCM’s history. We present this performance in loving memory of him.
