Classmates knew Seth Compton (’06) as a varsity rower and now, three years later, he's making his living in the automotive world. Seth isn’t selling cars - but he’s one of three men who produce the largest automotive website in the world.
When Seth graduated from the Electronic Media program he found a job in Los Angeles through contacts made during his E-Media internship. Seth was awarded a summer internship at CBS Studios. He later worked on the NBC daytime soap opera Passions and for th E! Network logging video clips.
After working at the E! Network, Seth realized he was interested in websites and was offered a job at Edmunds.com. The Edmunds website is the largest automotive website in the world. Seth is a part of a three-man team that produces over 350 videos a year. Seth travels to all major auto show, domestic and foreign, as well as doing road test videos, comparison tests, and other features.
“About two month ago we drove and filmed all of the Fast and Furious 4 cars”, Seth said in May.
On any day, Seth may be shooting video, transferring/ converting the video footage, editing, recording a voice-over, or various other assignments. Seth uses Final Cut Pro, Motion, Flash, Quicktime, Compressor, DVD Studio Pro and a handful of other programs most of which we at least touch on in E-Media.
“Working on such a small team that produces so much has allowed me to use almost everything I learned in E-Media,” says Seth.
Seth's schedule doesn't allow much time for rowing, but the skills he acquired in E-Media and the discipline he learned as an athlete are serving him well in his intriguing career.
