Ray Litkenhaus ’98 is the national promotions manager at the Outdoor Channel.
Though Ray has established himself on the west coast, his media career started when he was awarded an E-Media supported internship in New York City. Ray won the internship at Procter and Gamble productions and was subsequently hired there as a production assistant for Guiding Light. While working for P&G productions during the day, Ray worked at Court TV at night.
In 2000 Ray moved to San Diego to do freelance work. But he was quickly hired for a full-time position as a night side video editor for in-house productions at the Outdoor Channel.
“After a couple of years I was promoted to lead senior video editor. A few years later, I wanted to change from long form editing to short form editing with a more involved use of animated graphics, and was promoted to where I am now, national promotions manager.
“I am currently producing short form spots (promos, sizzle reels, ad vignettes and anything else they need) and using After Effects, Illustrator and Photoshop every day.”
Ray is married and has a little boy named Braydon Rufus.
“I feel very lucky to be where I am right now. Of course, it does take a lot of hard work and determination to stick with it when the times get tough; but I feel like I owe most of where I am to the time I spent at UC and the Electronic Media Division.”
“At E-Media, we remember Ray’s ready smile, infectious laugh and willingness to pitch right in and do more than his share,” said Professor Marjorie Fox. “It’s no surprise that he’s doing so well.”
