Bearcast Radio Creates New Image

Bearcast Media

Fall 2013 is bringing exciting changes to Bearcast Media

With its new rebirth and branding this past year, Bearcast Media (formerly Bearcast Radio), is bringing new on-air talent, radio shows, Bearcast events and a video department.

This fall, students are creating television shows that will air on the University of Cincinnati’s local station.  The concepts are varied and include a show spotlighting UC alumni, a cooking show, and a magic show, to name a few.

Student-Driven

Currently, there are multiple groups of students each working on their own shows.  Students are solely responsible for all of the work completed on the shows. They can check out brand new, professional-grade cameras and lights to shoot their shows, and can utilize access to professional-grade computer hardware and software to edit each show into a polished, final product. Students write the scripts, pick the locations, contact venues, shoot the content, edit, and complete the project completely on their own.

UC Alumni Show

One student show, UC Momentum, is keeping its focus on The University of Cincinnati by highlighting UC alumni and their current occupations, work, and overall influences on the world outside of UC’s walls.  UC Momentum’s team is made up of seniors, Carley Weber, Linnea Wilson, and junior, Chelsea Wullenweber.  About the nature of the show, Carley said, “It’s important for current students to see inspiring examples of people using their creativity in the community because Cincinnati could really be the next big thing.”

Magic Show

Reuben Moreland is a junior electronic media major whose own show incorporates UC student life and his outside hobby: magic.  Reuben’s show, which still remains untitled, takes the viewer around UC’s campus and well-known spots around Clifton to perform live magic.  The tricks are interactive with the environment and people around.  Reuben’s first episode is called Short and Sweet and features him performing magic at Clifton’s newest candy store, Jenco Brothers Candy.

Many other shows are also in production and are keeping students busy.  Be sure to support their work by watching this fall on UC’s local channel or get involved in Bearcast Media by coming to the group’s weekly meetings: Thursdays at 6:30pm, Mary Emery Hall Room 3244.
