Congratulations to Susmita Saha, E-Media Academic Advisor  who was presented the UCUAADA Sarah Grant Barber Outstanding Advisor Award on April 30, 2014!  This award is in recognition of outstanding contributions to the quality of academic advising of UC students.  Susmita was nominated for this award by former E-Media Division Head, Marjorie Fox and by Kristin Suess and Samantha Stinson, CCM College Office. The UCUAADA, UC Undergraduate Academic Advising Association, was formed in 1988 to provide communication links and information sharing among those involved in academic advising.  The group represents all  UC colleges.

Susmita works to coach students through their education choices, guides them through the sometimes difficult transition into college life, and is an open and active listener.  Ms. Saha takes the time to learn about students' present and future goals, positions herself as a mentor, and advocates a balanced approach to the college experience.

As a CCM Diversity Liaison, she is a voice for the underserved, including women, first generation college students, first-generation US citizens, and cultural/racial minorities.  Ms. Saha presented at the NACADA (National Academic Advising Association) Region 1 Conference in March 2014 on special considerations related to advising Veteran Students.

She received her Master's Degree in Counseling and Higher Education Administration from Columbia University in May 2009.
