Student Documentary Honors Local Developer

Bill Butler, Covington Developer

Students from the Electronic Media division recently produced a documentary short honoring Covington Developer, Bill Butler.  The documentary, which recognizes Butler for his accomplishments building The Ascent at Roebling’s Bridge, aired in October at a fundraiser for Niehoff Urban Studio.

This was the first fundraiser that the Niehoff Urban Studio had held and featured many notable attendees including President Santa Ono, and members of the University’s Board of Trustees.  “It’s really cool being here, and seeing all of the people who came to support Butler,” said Ben Proctor, an E-Media student that produced the documentary.  “I had no idea that the event was going to be this big when we started working on the video.”

The documentary was produced as part of E-Media's class Single Camera and Post Production, taught by UC Professor Kevin Burke.  “It’s really great that Professor Burke gave us this opportunity to get real-world experience” said E-Media student Carly Weber.  “The whole thing was a great learning experience.  Not only did we get the opportunity to learn from Professor Burke in the classroom, but we also got to see how it all translates into the professional world.”
