Students of the Advanced News Writing and Production Class, part of UC's Digital Media Collaborative, spent more than two months filming rehearsals of CCM's production of 'Swan Lake' to give viewers a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to build a ballet.
Their work culminated in four stunning videos that featured raw rehearsal footage and cast interviews. Student director/videographer Mark D'Andrea (BFA Electraonic Media, 2016) won a regional Emmy in the Arts and Entertainment/Cultural Affairs category for his work on the project.
The videos were created by D'Andrea along with classmates Brevin Couch, Tyler Dunn, Daniel Honerkamp, Ailish Masterston and Andrew Wilkins.
Watch the below videos, featuring interviews with Swan Lake cast members Madison Holschuh, Sam Jones, Kianhna Saneshige and Dance Department chair and Swan Lake co-director Jiang Qi.
The project has recently been named as a finalist in the Multimedia Feature Category of the Associated Collegiate Press (ACP) Awards.
The Advanced News Writing and Production class is taught by Associate Professor of E-Media Hagit Limor and Journalism Professor Bob Jonason. It is part of UC's Digital Media Collaborative, is a collective effort between CCM's E-Media program, the College of Design, Architecture, Art & Planning (DAAP), the McMicken College of Arts & Sciences and UC Libraries.
Congratulations to all!
