CCM’s Choral Department inaugurates the Shakespeare Quadricentennial, a two-year commemoration of the playwright’s birth and death through choral music – spanning his 450th birthday this past April 23, 2014 and culminating on April 23, 2016, the 400th anniversary of his death. Each choir offers a Shakespearean choral setting from the Renaissance through our own time. Featured works include Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Three Shakespeare Songs from A Midsummer Night’s Dream and The Tempest, Matthew Harris' When Daffodils Begin To Peer from The Winter’s Tale and Jaakko Mäntyjärvi’s Double, Double, Toil and Trouble and Verdi’s Witches’ Chorus from Macbeth.
