Workshop: Conducting Beethoven: Symphony, Overture, Concerto

Orchestra: CCM Philharmonia and Concert Orchestras

Description: For the first time, the annual CCM Orchestral Conducting Workshop is devoted solely to BEETHOVEN. Participants will have the rare opportunity to work with the renowned CCM Philharmonia and Concert Orchestra exclusively on the challenges of Beethoven’s symphonic oeuvre. Maestros Gustav Meier, Mark Gibson, Neil Varon and special guest faculty, Leon Fleisher, will invite up to 10 participants and 10 apprentices to CCM for this exciting weekend; all sessions will be video documented.

With our expanded faculty, there will be more orchestra sessions than ever. An auditor level will be added for the first time this year. There will be sessions devoted to score analysis as well as an opportunity for participants to work with two pianos in preparation for the orchestra sessions. There will be occasion as well for open discussion about the repertoire and about the conducting career with the workshop faculty.

Tuition:

• Participant: $2,000
• Apprentice: $1,000
• Auditor: $500

Deadline: Applications must be received by Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012. All applicants will be notified by Friday, Sept. 7 of their status.

Half of the tuition fee will be due by Friday, Sept. 14, in order to secure placement in the workshop.
