Benjamin Hoffman studies violin with Gabriel Pegis. He has performed in violin master classes by Latica Honda-Rosenberg, Dora Schwartzberg, Alice Schoenfeld, Yuri Korchinsky, Asja Kouchner; and in chamber music master classes led by the Quarteto Latinoamericano, eight blackbird, Michael Kugel, and Andrea Nannoni.
In the 2005-06 season he was the first prize-winner of both the Lakeland, OH Civic Orchestra Young Artists Concerto Competition (age group 14-18), and of the Blue Ash/Montgomery Young Artist Competition; he was also a winner of both the Cincinnati Symphony Youth Orchestra concerto competition, and the Accent05 concerto competition. He served as concertmaster for the 2005 OMEA Southwest Regional Orchestra, and for the 2005 Norse Festival Orchestra. The Accent Brahms Quartet, of which he was the first violin, was awarded an Honorable Mention at the 2005 OOSTA chamber music competition.
In 2005-06 Benjamin soloed with orchestra under the batons of Michael Kugel (A05), Eric Dudley (CSYO), Michael Chertock (BAMSO) in Cincinnati; and in Kirtland, OH conducted by Kathryn Harsha (LCO).
