Duccio Ceccanti
Violin
Duccio Ceccanti born into a family of musicians in 1974, began violin studies at age 5 under
the guidance of his father, and received his diploma at the "Luigi Cherubini" Conservatory in
Florence, Italy as a student of Andrea Tacchi. He continued his studies at the Accademia
Chigiana in Siena, working with Uto Ughi, Boris Belkin, Riccardo Brengola
and Alain Meunier. At the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole he participated
in the chamber music courses of the Trio di Trieste and the Trio di Milano.
He pursued further violin studies with Stefan Gheorghiu, Felix Andriewski and Salvatore Accardo.
As soloist and chamber musician, Mr. Ceccanti has toured Italy, France, Germany, Spain,
Portugal, Greece, Brasil, Argentina, Chile and Uruguay. He has given first performances of
solo and chamber works by composers Bussotti, Sotelo, Maxwell Davies, Corghi,
Petrassi, Berio, Clementi and Vacchi.
His recordings include Schoenberg's "Pierrot Lunaire" (Contempoartensemble) and the String
Trio (Trio Artes) on the ARTS label, the complete violin and piano works of Dallapiccola
for Naxos and a CD of Chopin's chamber music on the Brilliant label. Current CD projects
include works of Maxwell Davies, Maderna and Vacchi.
Ceccanti is the first violinist of Contempoartensemble and of the Ensemble Strumentale of the
Accademia Chigiana in Siena. With the Italian Chamber Orchestra founded by Salvatore Accordo,
Ceccanti has recorded for EMI, FONE', e FONIT CETRA and has participated in tours
of Italy, Germany, South America, China, Japan and the US.
Duccio Ceccanti plays a violin made by Nicola Amati from 1667.
