Milan HudnikMilan Hudnik was born in Ljubljana, Slovenia in 1971. He studied cello at the Music Academy in Ljubljana with Ciril Skerjanec and later went on to study with Mario Brunello in Brescia. He has participated in cello seminars given by Eleonore Schoenfeld, Igor Gavris and Onczay Csaba.
He has won many prizes in national competitions and the special prize given by the "Fondazione Romano Romanini" at the 1st International "Antionio Janigro" Cello Competition in Zagreb, Croatia.
He has performed as soloist with the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra, Chamber orchestra of Ljubljana Music Academy and the Slovenian Radio Symphony Orchestra. He will perform Joel Hoffman’s cello concerto “Self-portrait with Gebirtig” with Radio Symphony and conductor Lior Shambadal in May. As chamber musician he regularly performs in Slovenia, Italy, Austria, Croatia and USA together with distinguished artists form Slovenia and abroad. In duo with pianist Hermina Hudnik and in the Trio Unico with clarinetist Boris Rener they have recorded several compositions for Radio Slovenia. He has been especially recognized for his solo recitals, performing the Hindemith and Kodaly Solo sonatas and music for cello solo by Slovenian composers.
For two years he was a member of Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra conducted by Claudio Abbado. Currently, Milan Hudnik is the assistant of principal cellist in the Slovenian Radio Symphony Orchestra.
In addition to his concert career, Milan Hudnik is on the faculty at the Music Conservatory in Ljubljana. His students have won prizes in many national and international competitions.
