Karen Schneider
French Horn
KAREN SCHNEIDER has been widely recognized as an excellent teacher and
embouchure problem solver. In recent years, her special interest and
unique approach to the embouchure issues has been brought to the attention
of an ever-growing list of professionals and students. Because of her
expertise in this field she has been invited to teach and give lectures
and master classes on Embouchure Troubleshooting at the 2008 Barry Tuckwell
Institute, the Kendall Betts Horn Camp, the International Horn Symposium,
the International Women's Brass Conference, the Southeast Horn Workshop,
the Cleveland Institute, the Eastman School of Music, Penn State University,
CCM (College/Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati), University of Akron,
University of Alabama-Tuscaloosa and Birmingham, Samford University,
Miami University and the University of South Florida where she hosted a
horn workshop with Philip Farkas. Teaching for over thirty years, Ms.
SchneiderÕs students have been consistently successful and have been
accepted into Curtis, Juilliard, Eastman, Rice University, the Cleveland
Institute, CCM, Oberlin, North Carolina School for the Arts, Northwestern,
USC and many other smaller music schools. Ms. Schneider is also an active
performer and freelance artist, playing with the Cincinnati Ballet Orchestra,
the Middletown Symphony and is first call for the Broadway Series Orchestra. Ê
She has also performed and recorded with the Cincinnati Symphony and Pops Orchestras.
Ms. Schneider is now recognized as an official Conn Artist/Representative.
She is the founder and director of the Cincinnati Horn Connection, a sixteen
piece horn ensemble who received rave reviews performing at the International
Horn Symposium and has recently recorded a CD. Ms. Schneider continues to be
called upon to solve embouchure problems and is currently writing a book on the subject.
