Po-Chun Wang

Po-Chun Wang, was born on July 16, 1981 in Kaohsiung City. At age eight, she attended Chan-Gin Elementary School of Music to study piano performance.
In addition, she studied chin and er-hu performance, theory, ear training, choral singing, ensemble, stage performance. At CGEM, she trained as a Chinese instruments performer. Her debut performance was in 1990, at the Kaohsiung City Music Competitions where she won Second price in chin performance. Later in 1994 and 1996, she won the first prize at the Taiwan National Music Competition.

In 1997, Wang represented Taiwan at the Asia Chin Competition in China and placed third. At about the same time, she was accepted into Fun-Shin High School of Music. There, she continued her studies of chin and er-hu performance. However, during this time, she began to study composition as an extracurricular activity.

In 1999, Wang moved to Boston to attend Berklee College of Music. During that time, she studied composition and also became involved with film scoring, jazz composition, and song writing and arranging. While at Berklee, Wang worked with Marti Epstein and John Bavicchi. In 2001, she received the Youth Concerts at Symphony Hall Award.

Currently, she is working on her MM in Composition at Boston University where she has studied with Steven Weigt.
