Dance Classes for Adults

Beginning-Intermediate Teen/Adult Ballet

Ages 12 and up

1:30-2:30 p.m. Saturday

This class continues the aspects in the Beginning Teen/Adult Ballet but offers the student more challenging material.

Intermediate Teen/Adult Ballet

Ages 12 and up
noon-1:30 p.m. Saturday

In this class the student will continue to approach more complicated ballet combinations for barre and center work with the additional port de bras and épaulement. Continued stress is given to the proper use of ballet technique, alignment, body placement, body awareness, musicality and phrasing. Emphases on performance quality, phrasing movement and connecting movement through the use of plié and breath are emphasized. Students will continue to increase their body strength, stamina and flexibility. They will also continue developing higher elevations and leg extensions. Balance and body control especially in regard to pirouettes will be addressed.

Street Style Dance - Teen/Adult

Ages 15 and up, No experience required

Street Style Dances have strong foundational movements and extremely rich histories.  Through high-energy participatory movement, learn styles originating from the ghettos of the Bronx to the hard streets of L.A.  Classes focus on 5 major street dance styles, Breaking, Popping, Locking, House and Krump, learning how each style differs from the other and how they are related.  Students will gain a basic understanding of the history and historical contexts out of which these styles evolved.
