Chamber Music

Ages teen and adult
Time and location varies
Instructor:  Varies
Tuition: $150 - If a group wishes for an additional coaching time, the cost will be $85 per session per group.

Chamber music has been referred to as a musical conversation among friends. CCM Preparatory and Community Engagement is pleased to accept registrations for its new chamber music program. Designed for adults and advanced and motivated high school musicians, this semester long program includes coaching by Preparatory faculty, a special event that may be a masterclass, an informal reading session or a social hour/recital. Finally the semester culminates in a formal recital and reception.  Students will increase their musical skills and learn new repertoire while making new friends and enjoying the true joys of music making with friends.

Note: In addition to small chamber music groups, other opportunities might interest you for slightly larger, but in the spirit and purpose of, chamber music groups. We are in the process of organizing both a guitar ensemble and a flute ensemble that we hope to have in in rehearsals this fall, along with our established adult jazz combo. These groups would be invited to perform with the smaller chamber groups, if they feel they are ready. Additionally, outreach concerts will be scheduled for those who would like to repeat their performances.

How it works

Students will be placed in groups of three of more and assigned a coach (CCM Preparatory faculty member). The coach and members of the ensemble will find a mutually beneficial time for the three coachings that will take place from September to the first half of January, 2018. The coach will notify the Preparatory office of the dates and request a room for them. Copies of music will be distributed to each member of the ensemble. The music may come from suggestions of the musicians or coach. CCM Preparatory has a small chamber music library, but we have access to the Blegen Music Library and the library staff. Purchasing music will be an additional cost; we don’t anticipate doing this because of our resources here at CCM.
