Summer Music

Private music lessons

Private music lessons are offered throughout the year. There are opportunities for short-term music lessons for students just wishing to study during the summer.

Suzuki Summer Strings Camp

For students in K through grade 6
June 11-15, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. (with rolling pick-up from 4-5 p.m.)
Performance on June 15 at 3 p.m.
Director: Joyce Chan Grabell
Tuition: $250

Practice your instrument, gain new friends and have fun learning and reviewing skills and songs while improving your technique! CCM Preparatory faculty are planning a full week of classes, rehearsals, enrichment, themed days and games for Suzuki string students from pre-twinkle through Book 4 (students will be placed in age appropriate groups). Previous Suzuki experience is required.

Sample Schedule for Suzuki Strings

  • 8:45-9:00 a.m. – Check-in
  • 9:00-9:15 a.m. – Community sing
  • 9:15-9:30 a.m. – Warm ups
  • 9:30-10:10 a.m. – Suzuki class
  • 10:15- 10:55 a.m. – Suzuki class
  • 10:55-11:10 a.m. – Snack (please bring a snack)
  • 11:15-11:55 a.m. – Try something new class
  • Noon-12:45 p.m. – Lunch (please bring a packed lunch)
  • 12:45-1:45 p.m. – Suzuki class
  • 1:45-2:15 p.m. – Exploratory time (puppets, costumes, games)
  • 2:15-2:30 p.m. – Snack (please bring a snack)
  • 2:30-3:00 p.m. – Performance, special guest, or tour
  • 3:00-4:00 p.m. – Quiet time or rehearsal time
  • 4:00-5:00 p.m. – Rolling pick-up time and quiet time

Youth Classical Guitar Workshop

For ages 7 to 12
June 11-15 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. (with rolling pick-up from 4-5 p.m.)
Directors: Rodney Stucky, Jeremy Collins and Donald Broerman
Tuition: $300

The Classical Guitar Workshop, Youth Division is a five-day workshop designed to help classical guitarists improve and explore different aspects of their skills. Classes and activities will include guitar ensemble, music theory, jazz and baroque improvisation, composition, games and special topics classes, in addition to daily solo and group performances. Six months of private lesson experience recommended. Nylon-string guitars preferred.
