CCM Celebrates 25 Years of Musical Theatre Showcases in New York City with a Special Cabaret Performance on Feb. 19, 2017!
In the spring of 1993, CCM’s senior class of Musical Theatre majors traveled to New York City to perform in a unique industry showcase event staged at the Theatre Row Theatre on 42nd Street. The idea of showcasing students in New York was a relatively novel one in the early 1990s and only a handful of theatre programs had the forethought or resources to present their graduates to agents and casting directors.
CCM’s initial showcase was a huge success and the trip has since become an institution, helping to cement the Department of Musical Theatre’s reputation as an industry leader.
In the past 24 years, some 475 musical theatre majors have made their New York debuts in this Showcase. Many were signed to agency contracts, offered roles in Broadway shows or national touring productions, or found their niche in related entertainment fields.
In April of 2017, CCM’s Department of Musical Theatre’s Senior Showcase will celebrate its 25th consecutive year in New York City. To celebrate this milestone, CCM will present a New York-style cabaret in Patricia Corbett Theater at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 19, 2017.
