Gino James DiMario Memorial Scholars Program

The Gino James DiMario Program offers motivated music students an opportunity to expand their studies through a year-long program that includes special recital performances, community service opportunities, concert attendance requirements, essay writing, faculty evaluations and other educational opportunities. The program culminates in a portfolio that students submit in mid-April. Student portfolios will be reviewed for Gino DiMario tuition scholarships.

DiMario Program participants must actively engage in music making and enjoyment, and demonstrate their love for and commitment to a wide range of musical experiences. Program participants are expected to represent the school in the community through performances, community service projects, and attending concerts offered by the many cultural organizations and groups in the area. Program participants also have opportunities to participate in workshops and sessions specifically for the program, such as performer etiquette and handling stage fright.

Gino: The Scholarship and the Story

Gino James DiMario, right, began his Suzuki piano studies at CCM at the age of four. Gino loved the piano and participated in many recitals, competitions and other events. Gino passed away on February 19, 2005, shortly after performing in the annual piano competition at CCM Preparatory. In his short life, he touched many. He was an enthusiastic student who loved music and invested enormous effort and continual growth throughout his studies. In his memory, a scholarship fund has been created with the generosity and support of Gino's parents, Michael and Sharron DiMario.

The scholarship program is intended to reward CCM Preparatory music students who show the determination, commitment and creativity that Gino embodied. To date approximately $20,000 in scholarships have been awarded to deserving students.
