My first video class was TV 1 with Professor Burke in 1996. I was hooked.
We started with AB Roll editing then quickly moved on to Avid when there was only one editing system and you had to practically win the lottery to get any time on it.
After graduation I left Ohio and moved to Denver. The Rocky Mountain West was a fresh start, and a beautiful place to call home. I already had a job lined up with E-Media alum Melissa Courval ('98) at the Adams Mark Hotel. We were in charge of producing and directing live concerts and speaking events for the largest conference center in Denver. I got hands on with broadcast gear and editing for corporate clients.
A year later I found a full time job with the Largest Automotive dealer network in Colorado, Burt Automotive. I would be shooting and editing local ads for their dealerships. In 2004 they closed shop and I bought out the equipment and business from them and renamed it Spotlight Media.
Ten years later Spotlight Media is still producing high end spots and corporate videos for local and national companies.
