The combined MM and PhD in musicology is for those students who wish to pursue the PhD in musicology but do not yet hold a MM in music history. This program allows students to pursue both degrees at once.

- Undergraduate GPA of 3.5 or higher
- GRE scores at the 85 percentile or above for the verbal and analytical sections
- At least two years of college level foreign-language courses or the equivalent, with German being the preferred language.
- Completed substantial research paper in music history or ethnomusicology (world music)
