The Junior Cincinnati Youth Wind Ensemble (Jr. CYWE) is for musicians who play flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, saxophone, horn, trumpet, trombone, euphonium, tuba and percussion, and who have been playing their instruments for at least two years. Jr. CYWE is designed to be an enhancing and enriching experience for area students, and is designed to supplement (not replace) students’ experience in their own school bands.
Jr. CYWE rehearses once a week at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. The ensemble performs two full-band concerts with CYWE each year. Attendance is expected at all rehearsals and concerts.
Student interns from the CCM Music Education Division assist Jr. CYWE at all rehearsals, offering additional instruction to members of the group.
