Rachel Bierkan is the assistant conductor for CCM Preparatory Department’s Cincinnati Junior Strings. She is a 1999 graduate of UC/CCM with a Bachelor’s degree in music education and holds a Master’s degree in music education from CCM as well. Ms. Bierkan is the orchestra director for Loveland City Schools in Loveland, Ohio, and has worked at summer music camps and festivals around the state of Ohio, including CCM Preparatory Department’s Summer Strings, Ohio State Teachers Association Elementary and Middle School music camps, Baldwin Wallace summer string camp and the College of Wooster string camp. She is involved with Ohio Music Educators Association, serving as All-State Orchestra coordinator and Southwest Region Orchestra auditioner and sectional coach. Ms. Bierkan has travelled to Chicago, Australia, England, Ireland and New Zealand with Cincinnati Junior Strings as well as New York City and Cleveland with her school orchestras. She enjoys playing violin in the Cincinnati Community Orchestra and in chamber music groups in the area. She lives with her husband, Matthew, son, Joel, and dog, Sydney, in the Mason area.
