The CCM/CPS Summer Jazz Academy offers an outstanding experience to study jazz performance with respected area professional jazz musicians in an ensemble setting.  

The Summer Jazz Academy is for students entering grades 6th -12th in the fall of 2020 with at least 2 years of performance experience on their instrument.  No prior jazz experience is necessary. The daily schedule will consist of instrument masterclass, ensemble rehearsal, jazz history and jazz theory/ improvisation classes.  There will also be a special guest artist masterclass during the week and a final student performance in the afternoon on June 19th.

Important Note:  All Cincinnati Public Schools (CPS) students must apply through Dr. Rudnick and the CPS Curriculum Office.  He may be reached at rudnici@cpsboe.k12.oh.us

 

Tuition

2020 Tuition for non-CPS students is  $150.

  • 8:30 a.m. – Group Warm Up
  • 9:00 a.m. – Instrument Masterclass
  • 10:10 a.m. – Ensemble Rehearsal #1
  • 11:30 a.m. –  Jazz Theory/Improvisation/Jazz Arranging
  • 12:30 p.m. – Lunch
  • 1:00 p.m. – Jazz History
  • 2:00 p.m. – Ensemble Rehearsal #2
  • 2:45  p.m. – Break
  • 3:00 p.m. – Ensemble Rehearsal #2 continued
  • 4:00-5:00 p.m. – Optional Student Jam Sessions
