This year, I’ll be working with the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra (CCO) as the Orchestra Associate. Since it’s a small organization, it has allowed me to be involved in multiple departments and have an impact throughout the organization. It was hard to become a new member of this small team that has known each other for a while, but as time passed, it has been great to get to know the rest of the staff and for them to get to know me, too. One of them was so kind as to give me his single ticket to the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra’s Opening Night Gala!
Much like other arts organizations in Cincinnati, the CCO is run by an alumna of the program. My supervisor is extremely caring and understanding of my student schedule, and works hard to keep me as involved as possible. I get to attend board meetings and committee discussions, and she asks me for my opinions, some of which have been used. The CCO doesn’t have many events in the school year, since most of its season takes place during the summer, but the events we have had have been loads of fun to prepare for and to attend. Being a part of CCO is not only rewarding and informative, but it also is extremely validating.
