One of the most versatile and in-demand trumpeters in New York, Juilliard alumnus Tatum Greenblatt (MM ’08) can currently be heard on Broadway with the orchestra for Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, and on Monday nights with The Mingus Big Band at The Jazz Standard.
Recognized at a young age by Wynton Marsalis as one of his favorite up and coming trumpet players, Tatum has performed and toured with The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, Orrin Evans, Roy Hargrove’s Big Band, Toshiko Akiyoshi, Blood Sweat and Tears, Sachal Vasandani, Christian Sands, Ulysses Owens, Macklemore, Bastille, Shaina Taub, The Uptown Jazz Tentet, George Gruntz, The Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, and spent six years on the road with Richard Bona, visiting more than sixty countries across six continents.
As a leader he has released three albums to critical acclaim, and performed with his groups at Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola, Smalls, Club Bonafide, Fat Cat, and Zinc Bar. In addition to conducting regular workshops and clinics for Jazz at Lincoln Center, Tatum also co-leads the Jazz at Lincoln Center Youth Orchestra alongside Ted Nash, and is on the trumpet faculty for the jazz program at Rutgers University.
