Martin Garcia

Martin Garcia is associate principal bassoonist with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. He earned a Bachelor of Music degree from the Curtis Institute of Music and a Master of Music from CCM. Further advanced study was at the University of Vienna under the auspices of a Fulbright grant. His primary teachers were Bernard Garfield, Milan Turkovic and William Winstead. He also credits Daniel Matsukawa as a significant influence on his career. 

Prior to his appointment in Cincinnati, he was a member of the Milwaukee Symphony and the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia. As an active freelancer in the Philadelphia area, he was heard in numerous concerts with most of the area's musical organizations.  He first substituted with the Philadelphia Orchestra while he was still a student and continues to enjoy an association with them in that capacity. Additional concertizing and recording outside of Cincinnati continues in his work as a member of The Knights (NYC).

Garcia has participated in the festivals of Marlboro, Verbier, Evian, Sarasota and Lakes Area (MN). He has been a CCM faculty member since 2018 and has also served on the faculties of Summerfest at the Curtis Institute and Temple University's Music Prep division.
