The enduring popularity of "CCM" as shorthand for our college's name rather than "UC CCM" is due to the fact that our college existed as a private institution for nearly a century before becoming a part of the University of Cincinnati in 1962. Learn more about the history of our name.
Two separate institutions—the College of Music of Cincinnati and the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music—merged in August 1955 to become the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. On August 1, 1962 the College-Conservatory of Music became the 14th college at the University of Cincinnati.
Absolutely! While the "College-Conservatory of Music" name is a nod to the origins of our college, CCM's academic programs span the full spectrum of the performing and media arts.
Yes! CCM currently offers academic minors in both Music and Media Production, along with a graduate certificate in Music Pedagogy. Our minors are open to current UC students, and each of our minor programs accept 10-15 applicants per year. Learn more about our certificates and minors.

CCMpower (formerly known as the Friends of CCM) have been helping students achieve their dreams before the footlights, behind the scenes, or in front of a microphone or camera for over twenty years. Today, the organization has 600 members and an active Board who raise over $300,000 each year for CCM's talented students and faculty.
Yes, CCM Prep offers opportunities for adults as well as pre-collegiate students.
UC students interested in the performing arts can join university-wide choral and orchestral ensembles or can register for arts elective classes to learn a new instrument or skills for the stage!
Yes! Many CCM events are FREE to attend, but select performances do require paid admission. Current UC students can purchase up to two tickets for each of these ticketed performances at a discounted rate of just $10 per ticket. The discounted rate for current CCM students is $5 per ticket, and current CCM students also have the opportunity to attend most ticketed performances at no charge through student rush. A valid student ID is required, and student discount pricing is not applicable on CCM Development fundraising events. Learn more by visiting CCM's ticketing website.

Now that you are at CCM, finding the correct performance space can be challenging. There are video screen kiosks and signage throughout the building to help you find your way.
