Born in Hebei, China, Even Rong Ma started to play the cello when she was nine. As an active performer, she has performed Haydn C Major Cello Concerto as a soloist with the CCOM Chamber Orchestra in China and Schumann Cello concerto as a soloist with Ensemble 207 in Cleveland. As a recipient of fellowships of Round Top Festival Institute, Chautauqua Music Festival and Colorado College Summer Music Festival, Even Ma is a top-prize winner of numerous competitions, including first prize winner of the 2018 "Golden Classical Music Awards" International Competition in New York, and the second runner-up in the Popper Competition in Cleveland. During the summer of 2019, she has been invited by the Brancaleoni International Music Festival to perform in Italy.
As an educator, Even Ma is a fully-trained Suzuki cello teacher. She has registered training of Cello Unit 1-10, "Every Child Can!," and cello practicum with the Suzuki Association of the Americas. She is also faculty of Cincinnati Young Artists and Musika Lessons.
After getting her bachelor and master's degrees at the Cleveland Institute of Music, she is currently a doctoral student studying cello performance at the University of Cincinnati-College Conservatory of Music where she studies with Professor Alan Rafferty.
Her musical interests cover a variety of areas, such as Suzuki Cello Pedagogy, solo cello performance, chamber music, orchestras, teaching general musical knowledge to people over distance learning and Dalcroze Eurhythmics Pedagogy.
