REQUIREMENTS

COMPOSERS

-Submit completed application form.
-Submit 1 to 2 works (with recordings, if available) composed for 2 to 12 instruments, maximum 15 minutes each.

Upon acceptance, composers will be assigned a specific instrumentation to write for and a maximum duration. This new work will be performed during the MusicX festival.

PERFORMERS
(all acoustic instrumentalists and singers welcome)

-Submit completed application form.
-Submit recording of at least 2 representative performances of 20/21st century music.
-Submit resume.
-Submit one letter of recommendation.

Upon acceptance, performers will be assigned new compositions for specific chamber ensembles. Each ensemble will consist of three to five musicians, and will include one member of the MusicX ensemble in residence, who will serve as the works's coach. The new compositions will be the core repertorie of the concerts performed during the MusicX Festival.

FELLOWSHIP POSITION: MUSICX TECHNICAL DIRECTOR

All qualified and interested MusicX applicants (composers and performers) are encouraged to apply. Please submit a letter of introduction and resume with your application to be considered for this position. Select applicants will be contacted for a phone interview before being offered the position.

Qualifications:

Must have demonstrated experience working with audio and video recording equipment and audio and video editing programs. Must have access to high quality audio and video recording equipment, and a computer on which to store the files, all of which can be brought to Blonay. Must have proven ability to build and maintain a website, including basic video components.

Responsibilities:

Before the festival:
Work with the administrative team of MusicX to promptly update information on the website when necessary.

During the festival:
Bring audio and video recording equipment to MusicX in Blonay and be available to record all concerts, along with fragments of other classes and presentations, and general shots of life at the Hindemith Music Center. Communicate a plan to create and distribute individual audio files for the participant composers and performers of their compositions/performances.

After the festival:
Distribute the audio files of each piece by August 1, 2013 (this may be done electronically). Create a promotional video using clips from concerts, classes and recreational time for use in advertising for Music14. The promotional video must be completed by September 1, 2013. Please see the homepage for an example of last year's video. Also, must be willing to make two or three additional website updates through early 2014: update text with new dates and names, update pictures and bios, update the archives, and post the new promotional video.

Compensation:

Full tuition and housing costs covered for MusicX.
Full travel costs paid by MusicX from anywhere in the United States.
Stipend of 1,000 USD.
